election Process

  • After an initial resume screening, qualified applicants will be contacted and interviewed.

  • Upon passing an initial interview process, selected applicants will attend Park West Academy training typically help in Miami, Florida. After completing an extensive 10-day shore-side training program, those who successfully pass training will advance into the Associate Art Auctioneer program.

  • Once aboard the cruise ship, you are paid to train! Accommodations and meals onboard the ship are also covered. Other than tipping the housekeeping attendant that cleans your room (approximately$10- $35 US per week) and laundry, expenses are minimal and at your individual discretion. Many of our auctioneers enjoy the benefits of saving a significant part of their earnings, without the need for typical living expenses.

  • Associate Auctioneers are typically placed on cruise ship(s) for 2 - 4 months of paid training and apprenticeship, assisting a Principal Art Auctioneer. Associate Auctioneers enjoy hands on training learning to successfully market, produce, lecture, sell and auction fine artwork. This is typically the most valuable part of training that leads to becoming a successful auctioneer. In fact, many of our most accomplished auctioneers attribute their success to this invaluable portion of the training.

  • Each cruise ship has an Art Department that typically consists of one Principal Auctioneer, one Associate Auctioneer and one Art Steward. However, couples are welcome and frequently work together as Principal or Associate Auctioneers.

  • The entire Art Department is contracted by Plymouth Auctioneering to conduct auctions and sell artwork provided by Park West.

  • All members of the Art Department enjoy the flexibility of being an independent contractor with Plymouth Auctioneering, and are not employees of Park West Gallery.
